How to Rotate Multiple Google Photos at Once

Scanned a stack of prints sideways? Imported phone photos that all came in rotated? You’ll want to bulk rotate Google Photos instead of fixing each one by hand. Google Photos rotates a single photo per edit session, so a batch of sideways images means a lot of repetitive clicking. Here’s how to rotate or flip a whole selection at once.

When you need bulk rotation

  • Scanned photos and documents that imported at 90°
  • Phone photos with wrong orientation metadata
  • Camera bursts shot in portrait that landed as landscape
  • Flipping a set of mirror-image scans

In each case the fix is identical for every photo — which is exactly what makes it a batch job.

Bulk rotate with one click

Bulk for Google Photos applies the same rotation to your whole selection.

Step 1 — Select your photos

Open photos.google.com and select every photo that needs the same rotation. Shift-click to grab a range.

Step 2 — Click Bulk → Rotate

Click Bulk in the toolbar, then choose Rotate. You’ll get three options:

  • Rotate right — 90° clockwise
  • Rotate left — 90° counter-clockwise
  • Flip — mirror horizontally

Step 3 — Apply to all

Pick a direction and confirm: “Rotate 40 photos right.” Bulk opens each photo, rotates it in Google’s editor, and saves it back. A progress widget shows how far along the batch is.

Tip: group photos that need the same direction

Because Bulk applies one direction to the whole selection, select only the photos that need to rotate the same way. If some need rotating right and others left, run two batches — one for each group. It’s still far faster than one-by-one.

Is it reversible?

Yes. Rotation is a normal Google Photos edit. Undo it on any individual photo, or — with Pro — revert the entire batch to its originals in a single click.
